Irritable Bowel Syndrome

(IBS)

What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)?

IBS is a very common condition. It describes a wide range of symptoms that vary from one person to another and can be worse for some people than others. The most common symptoms are wind, pain bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, a feeling of urgency and feeling the need to open the bowels even after having just been to the toilet.

Foods and lifestyle factors can aggravate or trigger these symptoms.

How can Ingrid help you? Ingrid will review your diet, symptoms and lifestyle. Your symptoms could be due to stress, eating too quickly, eating too late, skipping meals, overeating, too much caffeine, or you could be intolerant to certain carbohydrate molecules found in foods. If the latter is the case Ingrid will guide you on the low FODMAP diet and after a period of 4-6 weeks reintroduce foods at specific amounts to determine the foods and quantities that you can tolerate. She will then develop a nutritionally balanced eating plan based on the foods able to be tolerated.
